Half Day School,Full Day Robotics

Today was a short and a long day. Short because today at school was a half day, but in the robotics room weve been here for almost 6 hours taking breaks from here and there. We also played dodgeball with the basketballs from the competition. The team of Ray,Martin, and me won. Then after we changed for Martin for Daniel. We lost and won some. Once we got back to work we got a lot done like the motor for the ball picker upper and Brayan did most of the work of that while the rest of the us works on the wheels for the robot. Daniel put a lot of work into the wheels. Even though only 12 people showed to robotics, we still had a lot of fun and had a lot of work done. Hopefully we get a great killing robot in competition.

Catching Up

So, it’s build season now! We are currently still working on the overall designs of the robot, and are finishing up some of our prototyping. In the past few months we he have hosted the FTC Robotics Regional, contributed 14 dedicated members and built a team that is ready and prepared for the impossible. Each and everyone of us has contributed to the team in different ways to further better the quality of this team, and to make sure that Robotics will always be an option here at our High School. We would also like to send a shout out to our wonderful sponsors, M3, Dataforth and Freeport McMoRan. Build season has been getting a little crazy, here in our secret lair. We’ve been working on our business plan, Chairman’s Award, keeping everyone updated and more importantly, designing a robot! :) Good luck to all of the other FRC teams, and we’ll see you soon!

Today we got a lot decided for our robot and how it should all come together. We have started to finalize our designs and are ordering parts so that they will be hear asap. Students have shown a good interest in the idea of programing the robot they are still learning but seam to be getting the basics down I for one am proud for them because they want to do it and are doing it only with few problems that i have noticed but are easily fixed with experience. We will be working harder hear on out because the deadline is fast approaching.

So seize the day Robo Knights and remember to have fun ;)

Feburary 21, 2011

During the rigorous work day of Friday evening, we re-created our claw due to technical difficulties. During Saturday, is when we re-constructed our claw, tested the higher torque servo. We can place the inner tubes on the middle rack in 1 min. 29 sec. (fastest time….. So far). We added to the code to incorporate the IR sensors for the autonomous mode and the limit switches for the arm. On Sunday, the bumpers were successfully completed. More limit switches were added to the robot. We also practiced driving and it went well. Good luck everyone with the ship date coming to a close!!!
